In this PD, teachers will collaboratively create personalized action plans to implement executive functioning strategies in their classrooms. Each teacher will set specific goals, identify necessary resources, and outline steps for integrating tools like planners and checklists in their classes. We will discuss how to assess the effectiveness of these strategies and adjusting plans as needed. Teachers will leave with a concrete plan, tailored to their unique classroom environments, ensuring they feel confident in their efforts to support student executive skills. Key takeaways include actionable steps, enhanced strategy implementation skills, and a commitment to ongoing reflection and adaptation.
In this session, teachers will be introduced to the note-taking method known as Cornell notes. This note-taking method focuses on encouraging students to consistently interact with class content both in the classroom and at home. Cornell notes is particularly useful to 9th grade students as a means of introducing them to executive functioning skills. In this session, teachers will be taught the notes format, shown how to introduce this method to their students, and be shown different methods of implementing these notes in their classrooms (on paper or digitally).
